Nitrogen is needed especially during the plant's growth phase. Nitrogen plays an important role in the photosynthesis and therefore in the growth and development of the plant's green parts and the plant's energy management. Organic nitrogen forms nitrate and differs from the anorganic ammonium because the nitrogen is bound to more complex organic structures. Several years ago it was discovered that plants are able to absorb organic forms of nitrogen directly but the plants mostly just absorb the nitrogen after it has been loosened from organic structures by natural processes. The organic form in which the nitrogen is found in BIOCANNA is loosened almost immediately when it is offered to the plant.

Phosphorus plays a large part in root formation and energy transport within the plant and also plays an important role in the blooming and maturing period. Phosphorus and nitrogen are antagonists, or opposites, and therefore it is very important that the proper amount is administered during all stages of the plant's growth. Phosphorus is especially important for the plant when it blooms. Phosphorus is absorbed by the plant in the form of phosphate. The phosphate in BIOCANNA is called bio-phosphate. Contrary to natural phosphate, bio-phosphate in nutritional solutions is guaranteed free of heavy metals and other pollutants.

Contrary to nitrogen and phosphorus, potassium is not a growth agent for the plant, but instead is responsible for cell pressure. Potassium is important for the blooming period and has a lot of influence on the plant's sturdiness and quality. The quality is expressed in a good yield, durability, flavour and scent. Sufficient potassium reduces the sensitivity for dryness stress and increases the plant's resistance against diseases and plagues. |
