The SKAL international foundation supervises biological production worldwide. The SKAL international foundation issues the EKO quality mark. This quality mark is the absolute guarantee that the product is really biological - produced with respect for nature and the environment. A biological product does not contain any fertiliser, chemical pesticides, chemical or synthetic flavours, colours or preservatives. Also, a product that has been certified by SKAL international may not contain any genetically modified organisms   (GMO's) The use of the EKO hallmark is bound to strict rules and is only permitted after SKAL international's permission. The rules for its use are laid down in a special regulation. SKAL international sees to its implementation and takes steps to fight improper use and abuse.
